It is my honour to be the Captain of Eastbourne Downs Golf Club for 2023/24. The “Downs” is one of the best downland courses around, which I’m sure you will enjoy playing, with its wonderful views over the town, South Downs National Park and of course the sea, and is further enhanced by the warm, friendly and relaxed atmosphere in our clubhouse.

Gents competitions are held most weekends, predominantly on Sundays. Saturdays are kept mostly for social golf with a members roll up reserved for the first few hours where, as it says on the tin, you can just roll and go out with your mates. Or if you prefer, get to know some members by entering the early morning fun thrash that all are welcome to join. In addition there are a variety of cup, league and friendly matches against other clubs throughout the county, either during the week or weekend.

You’re welcome for a taster session and once you’ve tried it I’m sure you’ll want to join the friendliest club in Sussex.

Come and enjoy golf with the Eastbourne Downs Seniors for those over 55. Within our senior section there are a variety of handicaps from single figure to 30 plus, so all abilities are welcome. Golf is a great form of exercise, supports mental health and wellbeing, as well as being fun and rewarding.

As well as thrashes played on Mondays and Fridays, weekly senior competitions are held on Wednesday mornings, then during the summer and winter months there are knockout’s for both pairs and singles. Also, during the summer there is a county wide competition ‘Cyril Blake’ and friendlies with local clubs. During the winter we have a team playing in a league with other clubs in the area

We guarantee a warm welcome awaits you on joining Eastbourne Downs ladies. We offer the full range of golfing experiences from fun games and friendly matches, ladies and mixed club competitions to Sussex County competitions

Our main playing days are Thursdays and weekends, but if you want a game on another day, we can happily find one or two lady members to enjoy a round with you. Contact the office if you would like an opportunity to enjoy a trial round with us

We are also proud that England Golf and the R&A have certified Eastbourne Downs Golf Club as a registered signatory of the Women in Golf Charter, after we submitted a detailed document to them outlining our committment to continuing to build a culture that values women’s involvement at our friendly golf club
